Types of Membership

Memberships at the IIT Alumni Industry Interaction Center fall under 2 categories – for Individuals and Institutions. Individual memberships are open to alumni of all the IITs and also for alumni of IIMs, IISc, XLRI, ISB, NIT, BITS, Anna University including School of Architecture, AC College of Technology and from other eminent Institutes of repute and pedigree in India as well as overseas. Medical Doctors and Chartered Accountants etc., Institutional memberships are open to Corporates of all sectors ” by invitation only”.

Individual Memberships at the IIT Alumni Industry Interaction Center are open to alumni and faculty of all the IITs.

Resident Alumni

• Lifetime membership

• Membership applicable to spouse and children (no age limit)
• Membership can be bequeathed to one family member only. The person to whom the membership is bequeathed need not be alumnus of IIT. The new member will be an Associate member if he/she is a non-alumnus or a Full Individual member, if he/she is an alumnus of any of the IITs.
• Usage charges at actuals for all facilities including restaurant and bar
• Can avail room accommodation on free of charge basis for a maximum of 7 days per year for a period of 7 years from date of joining
• Eligibility to vote, and contest in committee elections
• Eligibility to enjoy benefits at reciprocal facilities

• No charges for life for usage of Banquet room for events hosted by member
• The right to naming facilities (till such opportunities are available) and 1 event (TED type talks, sporting events, bridge or chess tournaments, innovation, monthly leadership lecture talks, annual endowment lectures) conducted by the IIT Alumni Center
• Name on a plaque in a prominent place in the lobby
• Eligible to vote, and contest in committee elections
• Eligible to enjoy benefits at reciprocal facilities

Progeny Members

Children of every category of regular IIT alumni members, who are not otherwise eligible to become individual or associate members can be admitted as associate members on following conditions

• The applicant should be children of an existing IIT alumni member (or recently deceased member) with voting rights, without any dues on the date of application
• The applicant should be above 21 years of age and should be graduates with sufficient economic independence to the satisfaction of the committee
• The applicant should be a resident of Chennai
• They would have no voting rights but can serve in sub- committees as appointees by the managing committee
• Not eligible to use reciprocal club facilities
• These rules above would be applicable to members in the Patron and Principal category also in the event of their wanting to add a second member over and above the membership available to them by way of bequeathing one time in their lifetime

Independent Spouse member

Membership of the Center will normally be for the lifetime of the member and applicable to any spouse 25 years of age and above, who is widowed or legally separated from an existing  member who is an IIT alumni  and residing permanently in Chennai and having an independent sources of income from her/his profession, employment or other occupation in an organization/ company is eligible to apply in this category without any further Initial/ Entrance Fee, for the lifetime of the said spouse subsequent to which it shall lapse automatically

• Charges would be as applicable to a Resident Alumni member
  
• Members in this category will be treated in accordance and on par with any associate member and  would have no voting rights but can serve in sub-committees as appointees by the managing committee
• Not eligible to use reciprocal club facilities

• A special category 3-year membership plan for Alums who come to Chennai for 2 to 3 years on transfer/assignment
• A 2-year window and option at the end of 3 years to convert to become a Resident Alumni Member.

• Not eligible to use reciprocal facilities.
• No Voting rights.
